Mark Mawson
The image on the left is an image of Mark Mawson, the photographer that has inspired me to replicate a shoot in his fashion of work, the work I have chosen to use is present in the image on the right, this is a moving figure image of smoke with light presenting how it moves in an abstract manner.
Below is a PowerPoint showing the research I have taken towards my inspired shoot by Mark Mawson. |

My Edited Images
These are my own inspired edits from the images that this artist has inspired me to take, in this case it is the idea of movement in smoke and this is representative in my images as I have followed the more abstract movements of the smoke in my images, I had captured these images by using a dark background alongside a high powered external flash, this helped me to collect images where the smoke is almost illuminated and the moving figure of the abstract gaseous form is present in all of the images. for my editing I had relied on using levels to highlight the smoke as much a possible to present the way smoke moves as in some of my images a clear path of smoke is visible however, in others you can see my images showing the more abstract movement of smoke.
Inverted smoke images
Whilst taking my images I had started to experiment with my editing ideas and discovered that inverting the images colour created some aesthetically pleasing images where the smoke comes out more clear as a black form on a light background, it helps to highlight this idea of form and show the moving figure of the smoke much more clearly, below will be a set of these images. These images although similar to the edits I had done before present another view into possible ways of exploring smoke within the terms of a moving figure as a theme with the thick black colour clearly representing the direction of the movement.
